Mike brings 25 years of industry experience to the Firm and is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. As General Counsel, he oversees the day-to-day legal support for all transactions and other matters arising across the Firm’s funds as well as legal matters relating to the management company. In addition, as Chief Compliance Officer, he manages the Firm’s compliance program. Mike began working with Harrison Street at its inception in 2005 as its lead outside real estate counsel. 

Prior to joining Harrison Street, Mike was a partner at DLA Piper, where he continues to serve as Senior Counsel. While a partner at DLA Piper, he represented clients in all manner of real estate transactions, including acquisition and disposition of commercial, residential, and industrial property; mortgage and mezzanine financing; workouts and restructurings; negotiating and closing transactions; lease negotiations; and private/preferred equity investments, including providing support for the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate assets in Central and Eastern Europe.

As a recipient of DLA Piper’s Harry L. Rudnick business scholarship, Mike earned an MBA in the Executive Program at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he graduated with high honors. Subsequent to his graduation, he has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at Booth.
